Meakusma presents Cologne-based artist Viola Klein's new offering, a small trove of living, personal, free-jazz imbued house music. Klein's work is marked by both historical / documentary activity and personal relationships - as in her time spent in Aaron-Carl's studio in Detroit or working for a New York church’s audio ministry; and community building and sharing, as in deep musical collaborations and her regular parties in Cologne where she mixes "Don Cherry to Detroit’s experimental house to Tama Walo to ESG to Jaco Pastorius to Wendy & Lisa to Aby Ngana Diop to a Salsoul Acappella layered on a rough bassline to Jaki Liebezeit to Justus Köhncke to Hypnotic Brass Ensemble to Yusef Lateef..." A passport and a visa stamped by the holy ghost incorporates the voices of Florent Kandety and Georgia Anne Muldrow into its flowing structure. The voice of the former is a personal chant in Senagalese captured from a long-distance phone conversation; the latter lends her illustrious vocals to a deft jam constructed from keys, organ, bass and drum arranged and played by Klein.
