V/A - Midday Moon - 2xLP
Sanpo Disco founder and director, Melbourne's Rowan Mason, curated this sublime compilation of Australian and New Zealand berceuses and meditations made between 1980 and 1995. Some names may be newly familiar to those not embedded in esoteric antipodean music pockets - such as Helen Ripley-Marshall, an ambient composer of only one album who appeared on the Left Ear Records' recent comp of similir ilk, Antipodean Anomalies; and Errol Tout, the Perth virtuosic guitarist who has also stirred the interest of Northern Hemisphere fans and labels. Many of the rest may be heretofore unknown to the listener, arranged in such a way as to build a captivating narrative of remote creative activity ready to lead you down the rabbit hole.
