Tomaga - Music For Visual Disorders
Meakusma Records presents Tomaga’s latest offering: nine pieces that have been used within the visual art world, as companions to visual art, dance and whole exhibitions.
Across the collection, Tomaga members Valentina Magaletti and Tom Relleen pick up many instruments, drawing on a plethora of sounds and methods for sound-making, including satisfyingly crumply field recordings, immersive synthesizers, a range of tuned and untuned acoustic percussive instruments giving and guiding intricate and intriguing energies. The sonic experience alone is imaginative stimulus: textural, free-form yet precise. Its disorderliness is in its re-orientation of sound, of moving around small parts to create a completely new picture. Process-oriented and gently motorized, it allows the listener-viewer to slip comfortably into a thoughtful and expansive mode.
Limited vinyl edition of 287 copies, with artwork by London-based graphic designer David Blanco (inspired by the work of American graphic designer and art director Bradbury Thompson).
