Shinichiro Yokota – Ultimate Yokota 1991-2019
An outstanding review of Shinichiro Yokota’s radiant, melodic house music. Yokota was a core contributor, along with Soichi Terada, to the Far East Recording catalogue, reintroduced to contemporary ears by Hunee’s 2015 Rush Hour compilation Sounds From The Far East. His early 90s productions demonstrate an enthusiasm for US dance music and Japanese machines, as well as loyalty to his lifelong collaborator in Terada (he names him his biggest influence). None of the tracks on this twelve entry survey have never been released on vinyl before, including “TOKYO 018,” the techy NY-house homage penned by Yokota and Terada for their first collaborative effort in 15 years.
