Sarah Davachi - Pale Bloom

Sarah Davachi - Pale Bloom

$23.00

With last year’s Let Night Come On Bells End The Day and Gave In Rest (via Recital and Ba Da Bing! respectively), Sarah Davachi impressed an image of the artist as guardian for instruments and the spaces in which they live; taking a caring, improvisatory approach to composition; preserving through love, knowledge and play. In Pale Bloom, her first solo album this year following the collaborative effort Intemporel (beside Ariel Kalma), she channels this care into her “original” instrument: the piano. And breathing life into baroque, classical and modern classical tradition, she takes a radically romantic approach to 21st century minimalist composition. A trio of “Perfume” pieces form the A-side, where masterful piano accompanies solo choral appearances.. The B-side contains the Pärt-like longform “If It Pleased Me To Appear To You Wrapped In This Drapery,” in which delicate combinations of gossamer strings waver in pitch to devastating effect and eventually transform into drone untold.
