Sam Kidel ‎– Silicon Ear

$20.00

New from UK-based artist Sam Kidel is Silicon Ear, a simulated live performance at Google's data center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Using self-described "mimetic hacking" to recreate the acoustics of the space based on its architectural plans, Sam forms algorithmic compositions within these parameters, making works that soberly examine the nature of our increasingly digitally connected world.

On the B-side on a song titled “Voice Recognition DoS Attack," Kidel uses a generative Max/MSP patch to render voice recognition software ineffective by only triggering snippets of language, exploiting a weakness in the field’s current boundaries which cannot yet distinguish between individual voices or singular phonemes.

Melding experiments in digital music technology with mindful politics results in an assortment of conceptually dense, cuttingly precise and melodically rich sonic creations. Presented by Latency Records.
