Mister Water Wet – Bought The Farm
In West Mineral’s latest thirst-quencher, Huerco S. solicits material from Kansas City-based Mister Water Wet, dispatching a debut album of enchanting ambient jazz. Immediately reminiscent of a disintegrating Loop Finding Jazz, Bought The Farm soon reveals a wider array of influences in incredibly rich harmony, citing Brian Eno beside Jack DeJohnette; Art Ensemble of Chicago with Andreas Vollenweider; MF Doom and Bill Laswell. The atmosphere of Puerto Rico, where the artist regularly visits family, thematically and impressionistically informs the transportive story of Bought The Farm with equal power. Spiritual historical questions (“can I reach Pedro Albizu Campos?”) are held in “bosques” (“music made by hand from trash and dust, ground relics and artefacts connect the past present and future”) and yield bouquets of dizzying, psychedelic sensation.
