Mike Cooper – White Shadows In The South Seas
Spiritual guide of folk, blues, jazz and avant- music Mike Cooper has just made his 70th revolution, and with it the new album White Shadows In The South Seas.
Since the early 1990s, the British guitarist has been immersed in Oceania. The 2008 release Beach Crossings - Pacific Footprints is one outcome his time exploring and touring in this part of the world - a radiophone work commissioned by Italian and Australian radio that traces the history of European colonization in the Pacific until the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.
Another reflection of this time and place is his Rayon Hula record, this album’s direct predecessor. Slide guitar psychedelic and jangling percussive loops in tribute to exotica architect Arthur Lyman. Presented by Sacred Summits.
