Mårble – Elixir Of Immortality
St. Petersburg’s Anton Glebov (aka Mårble) lured us into his freak-folk-fourth-world with the Not Not Fun release, Diego, earlier this year. Now, the rich and varied The Elixir of Immortality floats onto the scene via Natural Selections, a new sub-label of Nummer Music. Dreamy synths and organic percussion, haunting saxophone (played by Slavik Ipatov) and guitar (handled by Mikhail Gavrilov, who also contributed synths) beaming through the mist, accompanied by various levels of rhythmic and / or atmospheric energy. While evoking influences of old, The Elixir of Immortality maintains its unique voice, an annex to the canon rather than a replica of it. Original cover painting by Guillermo Vega Rivera and graphic concept by Guillaume de Ubéda at Atelier Superplus.
