Inoyama Land - Danzindan-Pojidon

Inoyama Land - Danzindan-Pojidon

The organic music of Yasushi Yamashita and Makoto Inoue’s Inoyama Land helped to establish the terms of what would become Japanese-ambient alongside pioneers Midori Takada and Hiroshi Yoshimura. Danzindan-Pojidon was their 1983 debut for Yen Records, an exercise in pastoral, serene world-building; an epoch representing the break from futurist, hyperreal, urban excursions of YMO into invocations of imagined environmental and natural spaces.

The story of Danzindan_Pojidon is a story about water. In the world that Yamashita and Inoue have cultivate on this record, music and energy are generated from the bodies of water that engulf it. Waves carry melodies to the shore which sift throughout the rest of the land and propel its ecosystem. To enhance this effect, Danzindan-Pojidon producer Haroumi Hosono crafted and utilized a water delay system of several speakers submerged in water to simulate the feeling of being underwater.

Canon amongst the heads, it is an absolute blessing that WRWTFWW Records have revived this important work. A seminal collection of songs that re-center and inspire.
