Cecilia Pavon - Licorice Candies
Argentinian poet Cecilia Pavon captivates again, this time on her own in intimate short stories and poems aptly titled Licorice Candies, translated from the Spanish by Jacob Steinberg. Described as "experimental and frenzied," Licorice Candies fuses the political with the personal, travel diaries flowing into stream-of-conscious love poems. The internet appears as a tool for connection in between cities, as Pavon takes the reader from empty marketplaces in Buenos Aries to basement parties in Berlin.
Cecilia elicits excitement in the reader and in translator Steinberg's words, capturing on the page, "What it means to be hurt and heal and return to the world and try again. What it means to fall in love." Brought to us by Scrambler Books, an important independent publisher of literature from Latin America.
