Brian Close – e.p.
Brian Close of Georgia fame presents a detonation of tech delirium for Amsterdam’s Congee Discs. More dancefloor proper (if they can handle it!) than his other solo project Mahbunzi Nahgo Pihndi, under which he dropped two sides of free and abstracted devotional music for Good Morning Tapes earlier this year, e.p. commences with the rhythmically riotous and melodically bombastic ghetto sprawler “Harrakat” followed by a dusty accelerated 2-step “Rodantek.” “Base_K” takes psychedelic techno into a warped alternate dimension before “Harmointel” snatches and stitches vocal fragments together over raving electro beat and swirling chords. A burner if we ever heard it.
