48 Cameras ‎– Chosen Songs

$27.00

48 Cameras is a conceptual project began by poet, social worker and “non-musician” Jean-Marie Mathoul (1952-2018). Primarily a meeting of spoken word and music, the project is a loose network of various collaborators operating out of Belgium, Monaco, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. This collective is organized by the “domino principle” of collaboration, whereby artists enter participate through an ever-evolving chain of encounters between individuals. Contributions come from Martyn Bates, Peter Becker, Paul Buck, Rodolphe Burger, David Coulter, Sandy Dillon, DJ Olive, Michael Gira, Tom Heasley, Gerard Malanga, Charlemagne Palestine, Scanner and others. The music within Chosen Songs may seem improvised, but it is highly controlled and intentional, featuring organic instrumentation and percussion inside a porous cloud of atmospherics. Stroom once again sheds light on an endlessly intriguing pocket of work, exploring the theme of the “non-band” – non-traditional methods of sonic collaboration.
