Sam Mallet ‎– Wetlands

$23.00

Wetlands surveys the immersive work of Australian composer Sam Mallet. Remaining rooted in his homeland despite pressure to expatriate, Mallet tirelessly soundtracked short films, experimental video and avant-garde theatre productions throughout the 1980s and 90s, self-releasing only a handful of cassettes and CDs for less ephemeral absorption.

Rowan Mason (Sanpo Disco / Recurring Dream) and Tony Remple (Musique Plastique) delved into his vast archive for this collection (Mallet sadly passed on in 2014), and present ten entries into his world, which range from Kerry Leimer-esque tones and textures to drum track burners, misted ambient jazz zones and lullaby guitar-gilded environments. Two Mallet tracks were embedded in Mason’s sublime Midday Moon comp for Bedroom Suck, for many an unmarked path into uncanny Antipodean valley. We’re aflutter with the opportunity to go deeper into his annals.
